Hi,not sure if I’ve mentioned this before,EB Videos,is or was the shop to the right of Stoneys Barber shop, just out of view.I sent you some pics of my shop a while ago,it showed the front covered with Disney and many other film characters, all done by hand by one of my customers,I’ve seen some of the pictures you’ve put on your site, but I can’t seem to find them now,are they still on?I enjoy looking on your site,it brings a lot of memories back.In it’s hayday EB Vdeos was a very, very busy shop, when we sold it we had 10,001 members and goodness knows how many stories and incidents, right through the ‘video nasty’ era.I remember when first starting it up I ordered 25 VHS tapes from Carnaby Video in London,it cost me the princely sum of £850,and that wiped me out.I got all the posters, point of sale and membership cards sorted out,had just finished putting posters up in the windows, when a lady came in and said her son had just bought a new video,do I do Betamax?,Betamax,I was gobsmacked I’d never heard of it never mind did I stock!!!Back to the drawing board, thankfully it worked out fine.
Hello! I would really love to interview you for the site at some point, when time permits. I love hearing about the antics from the video store days and it seems you would have more than a few. I’m pretty sure the EB post is still on the site, try the Collection of Video Stores in the Nostalgia/Preservation tab.
I don’t suppose you have any old video store sleeves or membership cards lying around?
